The Abertzale Left and the Ikasle Abertzaleak organization have historically maintained preferential political relations. We have had strong and deep political relations, always being clear that Ikasle Abertzaleak has never been organically an organization of the Abertzale left.

This strategic alliance has been based on the structural analysis of the process of liberation of the Basque Country. We have shared in recent decades a strategic hypothesis: that independence and socialism are two sides of the same coin; that national liberation and social transformation come together; or that, if you will, the class struggle takes the form of the process of national liberation in Euskal Herria. Based on this analysis, the Ikasle Abertzaleak has been, as its name indicates, an Basque student organization that has developed an Basque political project transformative in the field of education and that has tried to organize a student movement in this direction.

Thus, as has already been said, relations between the organizations of the Abertzale left and Ikasle Abertzaleak have been very strong. Among other things, many AI militants have been both militants of other organizations on the Abertzale left, without any contradiction.

Today's AI has nothing to do with what it's been historically. In recent years there has been an ideological and political metamorphosis. This organization has taken another political direction, completely moving away from the analysis and strategic vision of the Basque National Liberation Movement. This transformation has been carried out by the hand of a few, without congress and, therefore, without space for all the militancy to decide. Therefore, the current leadership of AI has kidnapped and deformed an organization that has a historical trajectory.

The current AI leadership has also taken organic decisions in this regard: in particular, the Ernai militants, who are also organised in the AI, have been told that it is not compatible to be an AI and Ernai militant at the same time, so they have to choose one or the other.

Each one makes its own decisions, each one makes its own decisions and their consequences. Clarity is good for everyone. And from that clarity, the Abertzale left is going to be AI-friendly, just like any other agent in society. We look forward to the same respect for ourselves.

This rupture, the result of a process of years, leads us to formalize the following decision: from now on the Abertzale left will not feed nor protect the political space represented today by the acronym Ikasle Abertzaleak. As the strategic scope of education, the Abertzale Left reaffirms its commitment to continue working on it, as it has done so far, promoting collaboration with all students committed to the construction of Euskal Herria and transformative educational models.

Finally, an atestado on the occasion of the floor of Ronda de Bilbao Street: The weight is from the Abertzale left. In his day he gave it to the AI and some educational agents, the result of the alliance they maintained with the Abertzale left. As has been said, the AI has today adopted other political positions. Therefore, breaking this alliance, the Abertzale left will not give it its resources to develop initiatives that have other political and ideological positions. Intermediate weight.

They took another path. We respect it. But let everyone be responsible for all the consequences of their decisions.
