'Etxebarrie SOS': crowfunding to save an agroecological farmhouse from Artea
- The members of the agroecological farmhouse Etxebarrie, located in Artea (Bizkaia), have asked for help to renovate the bread oven that burned them last September a fire and to be able to sell their efforts to live from agriculture. They have to make an investment of EUR 17,500 and in the absence of 33 days by the end of the campaign they had already raised EUR 3,000 in voluntary aid.
Many have known the call through a message broadcast by the EHNE of Bizkaia and in the early days of the campaign had raised almost 3,000 euros Goteo.org channeled from the crowfunding page Etxebarrie Baserrie SOS. This guarantees the construction of a roof and a building for the new furnace, but in order to buy the new furnace and organize all the necessary infrastructure to start it, the baserritars need to reach 17,500 euros: "This situation forces us to make a new bread worker, fulfilling all legal and sanitary requirements, and to replace wood lava, without being able to fully assume the investment that this implies. That is why we ask for your cooperation to ensure the survival of the project. The contribution we are asking for is the purchase of material to make the worker, since all the infrastructures will be made by us in auzolan".
The Etxebarrie farmhouse is located in Artea and in it we produce agroecological food. In 2010, several young people came together to work in agriculture, turning what was a pine monoculture into a place of healthy food production. Vegetables are made and distributed weekly through baskets. Its second activity is beekeeping, honey, propolia, the queens room and swarms for many other small beekeepers. The third pillar of the farmhouse is the production of bread, with a mother dough, organic flour and a wood kiln. This third leg has been in danger since it was burned in September by a fire.
The Etxebarrie farmhouse, which supplies food to 150 families, is managed in a group and from this production center participate in various initiatives of the environment: Igitie Arratiako agroecological asanblada, EHNE Bizkaia, Maskilu transformazio, Esnetik, etc.
