“Rebellion is the whim of age.” As the population of the Basque Country ages, what is the future of rebellion here?

(Laughter) We're talking about how people change from an age onwards, and they get tied up. We make an ironic reading of serious issues.

There seems to be little humor in the field of music...

Oh, yeah, yeah. It’s hard to find laughter in songs, and that’s a shame. For our group, on the other hand, humor is one of the most important characteristics: in the songs, in the attitude, in the way of speaking...

What has surprised you from the musical field, coming from bertsolarismo?

We have flexible boundaries. We do sessions, dinners... verses. I don’t know where the end is often. The musical field, on the other hand, is much more methodical and also has a hidden aspect: the preparation in teamwork...

Is music a way of traveling in the broadest sense?

Oh, yeah, yeah. Our records are journeys. The songs are a reference to many lands. Our music is geographic. Music critics have a hard time tagging us; we’re in an unknown place. And this is of great value to us and to the audience.

Three jobs on the street, and plenty of shows on the back. Do you feel comfortable singing already?

Oh, yeah, yeah. I have noticed the evolution, although I do not consider myself a singer. I've been in verse for twenty-five years, and it's very hard to get rid of the cliche. I didn’t know what to do as a singer and I struggled with the rhythm, the need to memorize songs...

"Whales are our gods, and the moon lays down the laws." They say that we are the Indians of Europe. Do we have any similarities with the other Indians?

We have a parallel story. In about 150 years, between the 16th and 17th centuries, the two nations crossed and we shared language and commercial interests. 500 years later, both small and colonized nations maintain their own identities and languages.
