A man kills his 13-year-old daughter and then commits suicide in Bilbao
- It happened at the family home in Bilbao, in the Larraskitu district. After a violent argument, the woman fled the house and called the local police. Police found the bodies of her father and daughter in the house. The woman was taken to hospital because of her injuries.
The Department of the Interior of the Basque Government has stated that everything indicates that the father has killed his daughter and has subsequently committed suicide. On Friday, at around 5 a.m., the woman fled her home after “a serious incident of gender and family violence.” The woman asks for help and calls the local police. Police broke into the house and found the two bodies. Her 13-year-old daughter was covered in aunts and her father had committed suicide in the bathroom. The police took over the investigation.
Pradales wants a “rigorous and respectful investigation”
President Imanol Pradales has pointed out that everything points to vicarious violence, “which is the most terrifying aspect of macho violence.” It condemns the murder and expresses its solidarity with the family. He added that he hopes the investigation will be rigorous and respectful.
