The death is called Eduardo

The play takes place in a bunker. This year’s theme is Literature. And Ander Lipus wrote this year’s manifesto of the festival. A triple combo.

Many have been moved by Susa’s World Poetry Quays collection on this tenth anniversary of the series of publications, as we read to Maialen Berasategi in this non-celestial magazine. The MPK commissioned the three Formol artists to make a play based on a book of poetry. It is also said that the book has been to the living, which is a selection of the poems of almost 40 translators who have participated in the collection over the years. A special book, no doubt. “Very eclectic kaier”, as read in New Edurne Azkarateri, who has been preparing the play. In the end, they saw that many poems touched death, directly or indirectly, in a more bellicose and/or poetic sense. The idea of the bunker came from there. And whoever has seen the play knows, or even the journalist out there who has received the pictures that have been sent to the press, that everything is very dark.

The three actors find the house in the bunker and invite the viewer to access it. Even though in the dark it’s always delicious there, with musicite, in some cases between recited pseudo-poems that are difficult to digest and absurd meanings that seem like intelligent zeros. It sounds strange, yes, because it is strange. But the atmosphere they've created is pleasant, and that's what counts. Many non-formal tributes, a lot of frictional details and the light at the end of the tunnel. A little chaos. The call to escape. Edurne, Alice and Michael. A different style.

Theatre has very little place in our society, and especially in education. That’s what Ander Lipus said before the theatre in the manifesto, The Beginning of Literature. I would like to have the education to see the theater, and to have enough imagination to dream that Death is called Eduardo and that in the halls you will hear comments about “how strange it has been” at some point.

Lipus is going to escape. He says he's going to be in trouble. And now it's time, as he said: “Open the windows and the books.”
