From the government and from the power centers we have been led to believe that the state of alarm is a neutral decision, the only decisions that could be made as a result of the health emergency are the confinement and elimination of basic political freedoms. The continuation of the workshops has led to an increase in the spread of the disease and, although it is a matter of avoiding the economic crisis, significant economic losses are expected for next month. In addition, the closure of many plants is due to the pressure of the workers' organization, the dismantling of the chains of productive processes and the constant increase in the number of deaths that the government cannot accept, and not to the fact that the health criteria have prevailed over economic interests micos.Las authorities have decreed these days the state of emergency, police and military have taken to the streets and a direct dictatorship has been imposed throughout the territory. All institutional parties have aligned themselves, without objection, in favour of a “covert” emergency situation that has been described as a “state of alarm”.

This situation has reopened the debate on the health system and the model of medicine being applied in the Basque Country. In fact, we are faced with a system that manipulates viruses, produces transgenic food and jeopardises the survival of the planet itself. On this occasion, the health system has failed to cope with the crisis, and although during these days the private health system has remained in the hands of public management, it has not been sufficient to cope with the crisis. From our point of view, that the service is public and that the health system is of quality and universal for everyone does not have to be the opposite mismo.Por, the debate would focus on the question of who and what interests the control of public services and wealth fits into. Whether health is controlled by the bourgeoisie or whether the working class has political control over health.

According to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) forecasts, we are facing an economic crisis that could be more serious than in 2008. If we are to deal with this crisis, we must identify the cause of its origin, which is not limited to COVID-19. Crises are at the heart of the capitalist system, as economic recessions have been repeated several times in the history of capitalism. In any case, the main losers of the crisis are the workers, either because we run the risk of losing jobs, either because we can lose savings or because public cuts directly affect the quality of life of working people. According to data from Eustat 2008.urtean, there were 90,678 people in the CAV who suffered from real poverty and in 2018 it rose to 132,432. The government measures adopted to alleviate the situation of the defenceless sectors during the Covid-19 crisis are aimed at mitigating the coup and prolonging the indignation of the working class over time. Because the State does not have sufficient economic capacity to return to the situation before the beginning of the crisis, and we consider that the economic outbreak is a matter of time.

From our point of view, the crisis situation needs to be politicised and the political campaign of denunciation by the Socialist Youth Coordinator responds to this. In this sense, we reaffirm the right of citizens to be informed, betting on ordering the truth in the face of misinformation, sensational news and general terror. In the field of health, we believe that it is time to put aside economic interests and fight for a quality, universal and free health system.
