The unions denounce that many gardeners do not receive the minimum wage other than the Interprofessional Minimum Wage. In addition, they regret that they charge 10,000 euros less than other municipal employees who work in other areas but do the same work, even though they work 100 hours more than these each year. "This situation is the result of the disgusting subcontracting system promoted by municipal governments," the unions stress. In fact, the company Enviser is responsible for the maintenance of public gardens in Vitoria-Gasteiz; in addition, the owner of Enviser is also the owner of an investment fund in the USA.

Since the strike began, the company has “only” met with workers three times, the unions denounce, in the last meeting it proposed a “ridiculous” increase of 43 euros. It is reported that the City Council, on the other hand, took 42 days to meet with the Commission and that this was done after the request of the workers in the City Council. The second meeting was held a few days later, but it is reported that the city council has said that it can do "little". They recall the "privatization and subcontracting policies promoted by them" and regret that: "Does the company have more power than the city council in this conflict? ".

Call for demonstration

Two months after the strike began, the unions have asked to join the mobilisation convened by the workers’ committee of Enviser from Vitoria-Gasteiz’s Plaza Nueva on Monday 26 May at 6.30 p.m. They emphasize that the citizens of Vitoria-Gasteiz do not deserve "to continue worsening the situation of their parks and gardens due to the inaction of the subcontract and the municipality". They added that the mobilizations will generate pressure on those responsible for the situation and proclaim that the solution of the conflict will come "through a collective agreement that guarantees decent working conditions and adequate wages.
