ELA files suit against the Guardian for the closure of Autoglas-Glavista
- The ELA union has filed a criminal complaint before the Amurrio Court of Investigation against the European Vice-President of the Guardian and the person responsible for legal affairs for the events in Autoglas-Glavista.
ELA believes that the sale of Autoglas-Glavista was an "orchestrated" and "simulated" operation to bring the company down. For this reason, for the union, there was a crime of unfair administration as well as a crime of punishable insolvency. In fact, the Public Prosecutor’s Office also denounced this and the court has already decided to investigate it.
In any case, the workers’ organization adds a new accusation: "A crime against the fundamental rights of workers."
In fact, in the opinion of ELA, "the Guardian Group launched an apparent trade to disregard the rights that a collective dismissal imposes on workers and prevent them from acting against such dismissals."
The union recalls that the incident had the support of the Basque Government, which granted subsidies to Parter Capital, which acquired the company.
In reality, Autoglas-Glavista was closed in 2024 and more than 200 workers were left on the street as a result. The goal of ALS is, therefore, "not to repeat such activities again in the future".
