Vikings driven out by water
- From the 10th to the mid-15th century the Vikings occupied Greenland, but in a few decades they left the island.
To explain this, it has been argued the hardening of the climate, conflicts with local peoples or the interruption of commercial networks.
Other researchers at Harvard University have now put forward a hypothesis related to all of these reasons: large ice masses gravitatively attract adjacent waters, resulting in a 3,3-meter sea level rise on the Greenland coast.
This represented a radical change in living conditions over the previous 500 years.
