Bad news for leftists in education

On the other hand, there are the villages where there is a public school and some Ikastola. Unlike the previous ones, more than one Basque from the left has been created a “Tremor” when it comes to schooling children. Some don't hesitate. They learned in that ikastola 30 years ago and now they consider it their only option, “Where if not?” They do not know the public school and for them the ikastola is the only option. In these villages, the ikastolas have the monopoly of the Basque Country and the transmission of the Basque culture. Some left-wing Euskaldunes doubt, but “Infrasoinuak” in general leads them to wager on the ikastola. There are also Euskaldunes and left-wing families who register in the public school, but in proportion are few and surprised when talking about their decision in the nationalist environment.
In this case, “We have believed our own lies” and we argue that ikastolas are not like Christian schools, although the Basque Government, under the pact with the concerted centres, has paid with public money all its funding for their operation, more than EUR 60,000 per concerted classroom, EUR 606 million per year. On the contrary, these concerted schools must comply with the educational legislation of the CAPV, Heziberri “Alegia”.
The public schools of the CAPV and all the concerted have the same curriculum and, therefore, are not as “free” as they sell. In all the Public Schools of the CAV, Euskera is the main axis and, in addition to euskaldunizar the Basque families, an impressive work is done to transmit our language and culture to foreign people. In this second type of village, most of the sons and daughters on the left are not enrolled in public school. These immigrant families do not find many Basque families that help them integrate and are creating ghettos because of this lack of “balance”.
The situation of the ikastolas of Navarra and Iparralde is very different. All projects or companies that promote and strengthen Basque culture and Basque culture. They do not receive much help and, therefore, they want us to help and organize as a people so that the “Cultural Checkmate” does not occur. But don't generalize the needs of these ikastolas with others.

The public system and school have to improve a lot and we have to start that debate, but now we need “Hands” to continue transforming the public school. On this road, “Till you see”...
