The Department of the Interior of the Government has reported the fatal accident. On José María Ugarteburu Street in Bilbao, a worker died after falling from a roof while working there at around 10:00.
Four dead this week, 24 in 2025
Having a disturbing week in the field of fatal workplace accidents in the Basque Country. On Monday, one worker died in Andosilla (Navarra), falling on the load, and another in Atxondo (Bizkaia), after a piece fell on him during the works of the AVE. On Tuesday, a subcontracted worker fell from the roof of Tubos Reunidos in Amurrio, Álava, where he died.
With the four fatalities this week, there are generally 24 workers who have died in workplace accidents in 2025 to date, according to the LAB union’s account. Last year the death toll was 64.
