According to the information provided by the Government of Navarre, the 55-year-old man who was working on the construction of a house has fallen from a height of ten meters. This has caused serious injuries and the emergency services have not been able to do anything to get the man out alive.

The deceased was an employee of Tejados Aoiz and his body will be taken to the Navarre Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. According to data provided by the LAB, seventeen workers have already died this year in the Southern Basque Country, twelve of them in Navarre, precisely, falling from eleven heights.

In the opinion of ELA, it is the entrepreneurs and public institutions responsible for this situation: “In Navarre companies there is no prevention, or if it is done, it stops on paper. However, the bosses continue to fuel their false discourse about absenteeism and the Government of Navarre refuses to impose any sanctioning measure.”

According to the union, “the social dialogue policies must be ended and the labour inspectorate, which is completely collapsed, must be strengthened by up to 45 people”, so that, according to the union, the European average would be met and “the safety conditions in companies and workplaces in Navarre” would be better controlled.
