If Merci Patron!ek (if Bernard Arnault were Florentino Pérez and Vincent Bolloré were Juan Luis Cebrian) had won the Goya instead of the César prize, the Basques would have talked about it in our meetings and social networks, because there are no popular questionnaires that will un-Spanish our minds.
And yes, he has completed the anthological show when the director of the Fakir newspaper, Ruffin, has been awarded the César Prize, as can be seen in the video below. Don't ask me what Merci Patron is!, I explained it a lot in the light. But here’s what Ruffin said about taking the award (below the full translation):
Submitted by: “The César Prize, in the documentary section, is awarded to... Merci Patron!, By François Ruffin.
Voice of Off: “The Merci Patron! In the film, François Ruffin starts from the case of a family who has been left without a job, drowning in debt because the textile factory that gave them the job was taken away from Poland. They'll make it their goal to impress the factory leader, Bernard Arnaud. Among the documentaries presented to the awards, this is the one that has obtained the most audience, since in a year 500,000 people have seen it in the halls”.
François Ruffin (wearing a shirt with Vincent Bollore, leader of Canal+, the television rights channel of the César Awards): “My film mentioned a factory that was moved to Poland, leaving behind the misery and restlessness of Christ. And while we are talking here, the Whirpool factory in the city of Amiens, which produces clothes dryers, is suffering the same thing, because they are taking them to Poland. Fifteen years ago, I was already in Amiens, they took clothes washing machines to Slovakia, they took Continental to Romania, Goodyear to Poland... It’s been thirty years since this happened in the furniture, textile, chemical, metallurgy and everything. Why the same after 30 years? Because it catches workmen, and nobody cares.
If they were actors, in concurrence with Romanian actors, the problem would be explained immediately. Bali journalists... when journalists' taxes are scrutinized, there are debates, opinion articles in the newspapers. But let us imagine that it happens to Members who say that Members are not sufficiently competent. Each French Member costs 7,610 euros per month, but one Polish Member costs 2,000 euros per month. But imagine, a Bangladeshi MP costs 164 euros a month. One day it is said: tomorrow we must relocate Parliament to Warsaw. There would immediately be debates in parliament and a legislative proposal would emerge. The same thing has happened to the workers for forty years and no one has made a legislative proposal. Because in this country there will be people who have no teeth but above all there are leaders who have no teeth. Therefore, Mr François Hollande now has the opportunity, at the end of his term, to show that his rival is financial, that he can promise, that he can ban Whirlpool products in the French area. Let him come out of his weakness and move his ass.”
