Last Saturday, May 17, Arguedas hosted the first edition of the Basque Language Day in La Ribera. Throughout the day hundreds of people gathered in a festive atmosphere for the Basque language and the cultural richness of the region, focusing on diversity and commitment.
From the morning, Arguedas was full of color and music. Several dance, music and cultural groups from the Ribera participated, setting up the streets.

In the morning there were activities for all ages: A children’s corner animated by the Dindaia group, a lively craft market and a demonstration of popular dances. At 13:00, one of the most important moments of the day arrived: The show is the Amazon of the Bandox and Marimotots clowns.
Once this was over, the main event began. In this they revealed the state of the Basque language in the Ribera, explaining their intentions and proclaiming that the Basque language is alive.
After the popular lunch, Edu Zardoya set the mood for the afternoons and in the afternoon there was a lively challenge between the towns, where participation and humor were the protagonists.
The day ended with the concerts of Ribera Kids and The Tuffstones, Indeleble and Equilibrka, which began at 7:00 p.m. to round off an unforgettable day full of Basque and music with live music from Discodelia.
This Basque Language Day in La Ribera has shown how cooperation between peoples, associations and volunteers can become a meeting point where the Basque language, culture and identity of the Ribera shine with strength.
