The Church condemns Juan Kruz Mendizabal for sexual abuse
- In the years 2001 and 2005, when he was priest of the parish of San Vicente in the Old Town of San Sebastián, the Diocese of San Sebastián has demonstrated the improper touches made to two young people. Juan Kruz Mendizabal confesses his guilt.
According to the press release issued by the Diocese of Donostia-San Sebastián, in March 2016 the diocesan authorities were informed of the allegations against the priest Mendizabal. The Diocese affirms that the process launched at that time has proved the veracity of the actions denounced, and adds that it assumes the pain and shame generated by them and also asks for forgiveness.
2006 to 2010 in Bergara
Born in 1963 in Orázate, he became a priest in 1992 and from 1996 to 2004 he lived in the Old Town of San Sebastián while he was in charge of the youth commission of Gipuzkoa. From 2006 to 2010 he was in Bergara, first parish priest of Santa Marina, San Pedro and Elosu and later parish priest of Antzuola. After six years working alongside the Bishop of Gipuzkoa, José Ignacio Munilla, he ceased to be Vicar General in April 2016. Until today he was working in Errenteria, not knowing the responsibility of helping in churches of one and the other.
