'Mendiurrena': Centenary of the Basque Mountain Federation
- In May it will be 100 years since the creation of the Basque Mountain Federation (EMF), which also had a great impact and took place in Elgeta (18 May 1924). Of course, the EMF celebrates this Centenary and is also called Mendiurrena.
The EMF has prepared a comprehensive programme, which is being developed since the beginning of the year, and will be completed on 18 May, the date on which the field will be cited.
This programme highlights the activity that has been organised this weekend, on 27 and 28 April: the "100 urte 100 mendi" initiative. Over a hundred mountain groups in Euskal Herria will climb to the 100 selected summits of the seven countries and bear the 100th anniversary flag. Two thousand commemorative maps of the trip will be made.
On 18 May, an institutional and mountain event will be held in Elgeta, with political, institutional and mountain groups. After the official event, a popular meal will be held on the fronton of Elgeta. Placement of marble plate in Town Hall square, music, Nordic walking...
