Why not in education?
A month ago a debate began on education around the Basque Public School in the framework of the statement by Harro Topagunea. Those who came after us read them on social media and newspapers. I would say that the majority of those who participated in those discussions were left-wing on the political spectrum. It is known that this support system for the company or private center is supported by PNV, Geroa Bai, PSE/PSN, Na+ and PP. There is no discussion between them, but there is a broad section on the left. Because the existence of concerted systems for education gives us great contradictions.
The debate had/has many threads, but to pull one and help with the data to the debate, I say this for economic segregation. Recently, the last study by Esade and Save the Children for Spain has shown that the champion of economic segregation is Madrid, the Basque Country is in 2nd position and Navarre in 7th position. On the contrary, the CAV, with 51%, and Navarre, with a rate of 64%, occupy the last positions in terms of the importance of the public system in education. To put it simply, in our country we have many concerted schools and educational systems with the highest economic segregation.

This data also has a small trap. The average of all public centers is made regardless of whether or not they have competition in the municipality/neighborhood. Therefore, the data of the municipalities where only the public school is located are added to those of the public schools of other localities with competence of other types of centers. This means that in countries where competition exists, the distance between networks is still greater. In many of the villages where there is competition, moreover, EH Bildu rules and the attitude towards public school is being equal or even worse than that of other parties.
While between 2015 and 2019 the economic segregation between the students continues to increase, the ones on the Abertzale left are still in an eastern and moderate distance driving the current segregating model. As we continue to waste public money in educational concerts (623+139=762 million euros a year), we wonder “Where is public money?” We question the nature of advertising, especially in education, while we say that socialism is our objective. We’ll put the “Ongi etorri Errefuxiatuak” flag on the balconies, but we’ll keep structures so that your low-income sons and daughters don’t mix with us.
A left-wing party should wager on the entire public system. In Health, for example, you bet on Osasunbidea/Osakidetza without any doubt/surname. Why can't it be the same in education? Why do we support in society the system that generates this gap?
