Should Child Education teachers change their diapers?
- Many boys and girls who leave Haurreskola and are about to start the school will do so in summer, as in September they will have to go to the centre without luggage. We have read to a mother that in social networks she will not be able to develop without bullets and that in centers the diaper should be changed to boys and girls, a debate has been opened.
The mother says that the centres must be adapted to the needs of children and not to the centres, and that the school should ensure children who have not reached maturity enough to leave luggage to people changing urine and poop. Someone responds that this is not the function of teachers and that parents have to do homework in summer to prepare children.
In spite of everything, the child who has impregnated or dirty the package will hardly be abandoned by the center professionals, but it is not easy: In the 3 year classrooms, there is no room to change the package, and if the teacher has to go to the bathroom with that child, he would leave only everyone else in the class, and that is obviously not possible.
With the opening of the focus, the debate allows us to reflect on the different developmental rhythms of the child, the functions of the school, personal and physical resources (and their use) and the exchange between teachers and parents, among others.
