The Association’s management has proposed Garbiñe Ubeda Goikoetxea (Tolosa, 1967) to fulfill this responsibility. The General Assembly met on Saturday and decided who would replace Jasone Osoro. Ubeda received the full support of its members and will be the President of the EIE for the next four years.
Ubeda has worked extensively as a journalist and designer in LUZ, where he has been director, and then in Euskalduno in the Diario, Berria and others. Red Winter-Spread the Idea tour 95 (1995, Susa) was his first work. Ubeda wrote a chronicle of the group's tour of Europe. A few years later he wrote Mila izquierda (2009, Susa), in which he referred to the advantages and disadvantages of being left. The last one was published five years ago, under the name of Mejor en silencio (2013, Beste): After being a militiaman in the war of 36, he received in it the story of his grandson who is chasing the trail of his lost anarchist grandfather in France.
Ubeda will not be alone in her new position. Three other members of the Board of Directors were also elected at Saturday’s conference: The working group will be composed of Nora Arbelbide, Ana Galarraga and Peru Nortagirre. The budgets were also approved. An extraordinary meeting was held after the Conference to discuss new ways to facilitate the participation of young partners.
