The Fair is coming, and the organizers have summarized their objectives in three pillars. First, to give more extension to the Ciboure Fair, overcoming the "limits" of the square and the single day; second, to return the atmosphere that the neighborhoods and towns offer to the fair, "bringing animations or events of the zone of the fair to these towns"; and third, "to create networks and work together at the regional level with groups or associations that are living in the neighborhoods and towns in Basque."
Uxue Alberdi’s book presentation will kick off this year’s Fair. It will take place on March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mint Bookstore. The author’s explanations and conversation about this book can be enjoyed here.
In Hetero’s interview with Alberdi, Danele Sarriugarte explained the evolution of his position as follows: "I think I started to be more courageous in Jenisjoplin, and that there's that proverb in Contra, Post-Dendacos, and Hetero. What do I want to say? What is it that excites me? Somehow brought to my hearing, I’ve heard it in the first place.”
In the interview with LA LUZ, he explained how he has reflected the heteronormativity in the stories of that book: "Many characters are tense between two opposing forces: they want to kill their father and keep their father alive, they are uncomfortable but they do not abandon the game, at the same time they want to be there and not be there. The story of all ages of man shows a family that wants to keep its father alive and strong. They organize a swimming challenge for the father and his two children to participate, and the family prepares everything for the father to win. The daughter is incredibly relieved when she sees that her father can still beat her, something is loosened in her chest. I wrote this story from the impression that my father’s old age makes me; but if we extend it to society, isn’t the game always organized so that my father wins? ".
