Sánchez has asked in an almost empty Spanish Congress, this Thursday, for the parties with representation to meet next week to agree on the "social and economic reconstruction" of Spain: "The Union must be our flag," he said. The proposal, however, has not been very successful either between the right-wing parties or between the leftist independentists or the right-wing ones.
The PNV agrees with the meeting, but making use of the current institutions and routes, and not creating anything similar to the Moncloa Pacts of 1977: "We don't want anything to swallow," said Aitor Esteban. For its part, EH Bildu voted in favour of the proposal from the outset with a "non-resounding". Oscar Matute, spokesman for the Abertzale coalition: "We are not going to be in another Moncloa agreement, because we are looking for a greater recentralization and camouflage of neoliberal measures," he added.
Other extensions of the alarm state
In the session of Congress, Sánchez has obtained sufficient guarantees to extend until April 26 the state of alarm decreed by the coronavirus crisis, and from there he has given vague instructions on how the Spanish Government will act for the decontainment.
As he explained, the Executive is designing a "plan" to deal with different situations, although he has warned that in 15 days they may have to request a further extension of the state of alarm. In any case, he explained that the data of patients and deaths who have left the coronavirus week after week will take steps to return to normal, but it will not be "the normalcy we have known so far". The president of the Spanish Government has assured that the vaccine will bring "extreme normality" in Spain.
