From perseverance
They're one of the most beautiful memories I have in my heart. At the time I was doing Basque Philology and we went to a society in Arbizu to a concert by Ruper Ordorika. There were Rikardo Arrangi Diaz of Heredia and Juanjo Olasgrip. I didn't dare to tell Arrangi that I had in my backpack the book Hari hauskorrak, which a classmate bought and gifted in Altsasu. When he gave me it, he told me it was a good book. They're all good Arrangi books. In those years, there was a tremendous cultural movement in Arbizu. I don't remember if it was before or after, but Bernardo Atxaga delivered a speech in the village house. He received the Euskadi Prize that day and came live. He advised me to send him texts to Gartzia. I think I wrote them and sent them, but they weren't published. However, I kept writing. I'm writing lines the day after a conversation between Miren Agur Meabe and Yolanda Castaño. Meade talked about perseverance, persistence, continuity. He stressed that this is the way. And I think it's not just good advice for literature. It's also good for life. Maybe that's why I keep the old specimens of the Gartzia. Because they were a stimulus for me.
