Mikel came to present her last book. And of course, we took a couple of boats after the
charla.El smell of blood was the first book I read in Basque. Don't get it wrong. In addition to those read in the Basque Country, I bought and read the first one at the maturity of the Basque Country. In any loving relationship, they're always memorable milestones.
We didn't know each other physically. And I can't help it, but in those cases, I feel like a teenager who has gotten into the back stag. And look! As he's part of my life trajectory, he told me that I was also his, with something that led to his book. I still don't know how to feel in these cases.
Intimate communication is so much what literature produces, so generous is to let other people live, the mark that leaves us so indelible… Yes, indeed, we let the writer speak to us. But the payment or the fair exchange, for the writer opens a slice of his soul for us to recognize him.
Another milestone in my love for Euskera and Basque literature was the Cover Code. Images that will help me kill the humble subject in the face of the hunger of the child on television, or the beast that has entered the bed after scratching his back. Because what has been created from within has the habit of staying inside.
"If someone has been transgressing in Basque literature in recent years, it has been Miren Agurtzane Meabe Plaza"
And from the inside, from the body, Miren Agur has written to us, from the body of the woman, so that we stop thinking about sensations and feel in the only territory that does not lie, blood and meat. Delicate tenderness. That's his literature. It looks like the sea is quiet, but the violent currents are skyrocketing as soon as they enter the water.
Those who did not want to publish the cover code did not imagine that they would receive the Spanish Critic Prize. Then there will be other prizes. So far. And surely all that remains to come. I have not yet been able to ask him, but I have no more recognition and satisfaction than having been appointed a full scholar for someone who has given his whole life to the Basque letters.
Yes, much has happened in the Basque literature over the last twenty years. And I dare say that most have come from the hands of women. The achievements of Miren Agur are yours, with great work, obstinate and tenacious. Brave, because it takes real courage, without scared and without flashes, to leave everything and focus on the work of a writer. But just like I write from the staff to the compartment myself, they're partly from everybody.
I have not made literary criticism, but if in recent years someone has been transgressing in the Basque literature, it has been Miren Agurtzane Meabe Plaza. And this is not done intentionally or in search of something else, nor is it promoted from the outside; it's like throwing bread crumbs, not knowing if it's going to lead rungs, whether it's going to be rejected or whether it's going to end up in footsteps.
I sincerely believe that he is a giant and I have told him that he wanted to listen to, even to Miren. That and that pride is enough for me.
I had to write this love letter, excited and entangled, so that these words don't go to the pier of Lekitto or Arranegia or under the School. To get you as far as possible, to get you as many as possible. As in all donations, to be able to take them you have to give them. And Miren Agurre has given us a lot. The time when it should have come to finally receive a broad and undeniable recognition of the Basque Country.
