The schools of Puente de Puente and Elizondo have opposed the D-PAI model that the Navarre Department of Education will apply for the next academic year in accordance with Provincial Order 57/2024, and a group of parents from the schools of Erriberri, Tafalla, Puente de Puente, Santa Cruz and Santa Cruz. The Government of Navarre has proposed a hybrid educational model that combines the immersion of Basque with English. This would increase school hours in English to the detriment of the Basque language.
The change would be: Spend three to four hours of English per week in Early Childhood Education; and in Primary Education, for the benefit of the English language, hours in Basque are between seven and twelve, between six and nine.The order also implies giving more importance to the English language, because some trunk lesson should be taught in the English language.
