The Torre Olaso Foundation and the Bergara City Hall have presented this morning the Monzon-Ganuza Awards, and have also made known to this year’s award-winning: Libe Goñi Garate. Josefa Ganuza and her partner Telesforo Monzón want to pay tribute to the lives that share the values they represent. The award ceremony will be held on 9 March at the same Torre Olaso, on the same day that it is 40 years since Monzón's death.
Libe Goñi was born in Oteiza (Navarra) in 1947. SEASKA is one of the founders of the ikastolas. This summarized his origins and life Miel Anjel Elustondo, in an interview for ARGIA 2019: “Born in Zarautz, her mother, Miren, was a professor in Orbaizeta before the 1936 war, condemned in times of war, exiled to the village of Villabella in Zaragoza (Spain), until in 1950 she was able to go to Lazkao. Oteiza's father, near Estella, did not know Euskera. However, the mother always spoke in Basque with her children. Following her mother's footsteps, Libe studied teaching and was trained with Karmele Esnal and Elbira Zipitria. In 1969 he arrived at Ipar Euskal Herria in the flight and was the first anderer of the ikastolas of Iparralde, SEASKA. It was portrayed in 2007.”
