Employees of the public company Correos, transforming Axa into a private insurance commercial
- On May 20, the insurance company Axa and Correos announced an agreement. By June 1, citizens will be able to take out Axa insurance at Correos’ 800 offices throughout the Spanish State: private auto, health, life risk and death insurance.
The agreement was described as a “milestone” by Pedro Saura, President of Correos, who will provide citizens with “essential services”. Among these essential services that the public company will offer is health, but not public, but private. “Axa will offer protection to the citizens,” said Olga Sánchez, Axa’s representative, “thanks to the great human capital that Correos has.”
According to the representative of the LAB of Correos, Pedro Javier Márquez del Pozo, the agreement with Axa is only the last step in the commercialization of Correos: “For a long time in the offices of Correos everything has been sold: propaganda from private energy companies or travel agencies, dolls, books...”. One more step, on the one hand, but qualitative, on the other: “The Correos employees will do the commercial work themselves. For example, the distributors who leave the villages want the citizens to be redirected to the offices where they can be insured by another Correos employee. Training is being provided to staff to carry out these tasks. It is terrible.”
