Half of the pupils eat less food in the French State for lack of money
- According to a study published by Cop1, almost half of students must give up heating or some hygiene products. 25% have less than 50 euros after paying rent and fees.
Cop1, in collaboration with the Ifop Institute, has interviewed several students in the French State to learn about their ability (or disability) to cope with everyday expenses. In particular, they have talked to the students who pay for food, hygiene products, rent, fees, etc. for own use. A total of 812 State students and 746 young people attending Cop1 services have been consulted.
The results show that almost half of the young people interviewed, 46%, have to make a meal less a day, due to the lack of capacity to cope with food costs. Half say they have had to stop buying some food for prices.
But what is to be avoided for lack of money is not just food. Among the young people interviewed, more than 40% of the interviewees are forced to give up buying various hygienic products. And in relation to leisure there are also notable cuts, more than half acknowledge that they have had to abandon some exits and hobbies for lack of money.
Less than EUR 50
In addition, a quarter of the students explain that their current account is less than 50 euros after paying rent of their housing and fees. More than a quarter, 29 per cent, must pay out-of-date fees.
