The following youth and youth assemblies took place on Wednesday afternoon in Bilbao: House of Youth of Gernika, Etxarri II Youth House (Bilbao), Street to Youth House (Durango), Burlada Youth House, Matrailua Youth House (Zornotza) and Kiñu Youth House (Igorre). They denounce, among other things, the "police of criminalization and repression suffered for defending the youth centers", as an example of which they mention the eviction of the Etxarri II youth center of the Rekalde (Bilbao), which was evicted on April 4, after the previous day the border guards attacked those gathered there. In total, four people were arrested, dozens wounded and one man lost his testicle as a result of a projectile.

In their opinion, it has been "clear" in these events that the police is "the oppressive tool of the state against young workers", which acts "with violence and total impunity against the organization of young workers and youth centers". In this regard, they express their full solidarity with all the young people who have been repressed by the police and call for the streets to be taken "in defense of the youth centers". Along with the Rekalde youth centre, there have also been cases of other spaces in the Basque Country, such as the Kiñu and Matrailua youth centres in danger of eviction, or the social centre Chirbilenea in Sestao (Bizkaia), which was evicted on 1 April.

They also proclaim that the cause of the Burlada Youth Center proved that "the struggle is worth it." In fact, after three or four months of warning about the future of the youth center, two young men chained themselves in the town hall on March 17. They spent the night there, and the Burlada Youth Assembly denounced the city council's unwillingness to "provide a real alternative to the project." In the end, however, at the end of a mass demonstration in the village on March 31, it was announced that they had reached an agreement with the municipality to continue with the youth center.

The Need and Relevance of Youth

During the apparition, it is stated that "anyone" knows that society is in the midst of a "capitalist crisis". Several examples of this have been cited, such as youth unemployment, precarious working conditions and the fascist tendencies and racist and macho ideas that have been spreading lately. They explain that youth centers are a resource to deal with this "reactionary context": “Youth centres are spaces for young workers based on progressive values and are political and cultural schools for many young workers in the Basque Country.”

For this reason, they have declared that "male aggressors, racists, people from the fascist group and the like" are not welcome in the youth centers, and have made it clear that the members of the youth centers will "fight firmly" against the reactionary ideas they "want to impose" on them.

Spread the message of youth

They also denounce the role played by the institutions in the repression of youth centers: some believe that they are "directly in favor of the elimination of youth centers through force", while others want "youth projects that serve only their electoral interests". Finally, through the apparition, they wanted to spread the message in favor of the youth centers, and they called on the young workers of the Basque Country to approach, organize and fight for them.
