Mobilizations in Bilbao to denounce the collaboration of Basque institutions with Israel
- The Provincial Council of Biscay has signed an agreement with the emerging Israeli company SOSA, which has been asked to be rejected by various organizations and collectives.
The organizations and collectives at the Bilbao level that make up the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign to the State of Israel held a press conference on Wednesday in front of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. They express their solidarity with Palestine and denounce collaborations with Israel from the institutions of the Basque Country.
They stress that, without the complicity of the great Powers and the impunity offered to it at the international level, the State of Israel could not maintain colonization and the continued violation of the human rights of the Palestinians. “The Basque institutions are not an exception”, they highlight, bringing to the center the agreement signed by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia with the Israeli company SOSA.
To bring these allegations to the streets and show solidarity with Palestine, two mobilizations have been called: Demonstration on Thursday 31 May, departing from Plaza Arriaga at 19:00; and rally on Friday 1 June at 11:00 in front of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. At the meeting, they stated that they intend to send a letter to the Deputy General of Bizkaia, Unai Rementeria Asko.
