On 7 October, 50 representatives of the European Network for Language Equality of EL met in Casteddun, Sardinia, Sardinia, Sardinia, Sardinia and San Sebastian, experts in linguistic and academic policies. The network represents 50 languages and 50 million speakers spoken in 25 states of the European Union. 174 organisations, including the Council of Euskalgintza, organising the demonstration on 4 November.

In the General Assembly, representatives of minority languages express their concern at the judicial attacks that have taken place in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in recent months. They emphasize that the aggression against normalization is known in the Northern Basque Country and in an area of Navarre, but “in recent months judicial aggression against the Basque Country has also spread to the territories where the Basque Country is official, questioning both the official status and the process of normalization”.

According to CCOO, the decisions being taken in recent times “go against coexistence and democracy and can represent a significant setback in the rights acquired over so many years”.

They call on the Government of Spain, and especially the General Council of the Judiciary, to take measures to end the violence against the normalization of the Basque Country: “This is a matter of equality, justice and social cohesion. Basically, it’s about civil rights.”

Call for expression 4 November

The Council of Euskalgintza convened a demonstration in Bilbao on 4 November, before the Oldarraldia, under the motto "Euskaraz bat". The European network of minority languages joins the demonstration: “CCOO encourages all individuals and entities to participate in the protest to be held on 4 November in Bilbao, against this law, but above all in favor of the normalization and revitalization of the Basque Country, together with the other minority languages”.
