70% of the sentences for male violence in the Spanish State were convicted
- In 2019, 51,790 sentences were handed down, of which 36,534 were convicted. This is the highest figure so far, but for very little.
The Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has provided the relevant data. The actual figure for 2019 is 70%, 54%, while the figure for 2018 is practically the same: 70.45%.
The Courts of Violence against Women have recorded the highest percentages, with an average of 87.89%. These courts deal with the mildest cases and when there is agreement between the parties. The provincial hearings record the most serious cases, with a percentage of 82.51 in 2019. The Criminal Courts have serious cases, but the penalty does not exceed five years ' imprisonment. A total of 57.84% of these convictions convicted the accused person.
In 2019, there were 168,057 complaints of male violence, an increase of 0.67 points compared to 2018. These allegations amounted to 161,378, resulting in more than one complaint from some of the parties involved in the case.
More than 72% of the complaints were filed by the victims themselves, 13% by police intervention and 2.6% by relatives or relatives.
10.66% of the complainants chose not to declare against the aggressor, while 93% chose to do so.
