Three months without transporting weapons from the Port of Bilbao to Saudi Arabia
- A member of the Welcome Refugees movement has informed Radio Bilbao that Saudi ships have not entered the Port of Bilbao for three months. During the previous sixteen months, 455 containers were loaded. For the collective, the social mobilization has moved them to another port.
Agents such as Bienvenidos Refugiados, Movimiento Feminista and Greenpeace are denouncing the shipment of explosives and military materials from the Port of Bilbao to Saudi Arabia.
The ship, called Bahri, is responsible for this traffic, and it has been reported that until now it received the cargo once a month.
According to their calculations, it has been a year and a half since the firefighter Ignacio Robles refused to lift the cargo, and during this period 455 containers have been transported to this Middle Eastern country. However, as has already been said, it is believed that no remittances have been made in the last three months, and that if this is the case, it is due to "social pressure".
It is reported that the issue will be closely monitored, as well as an attempt to articulate a movement at European level to oppose the sale of arms.
The objective is to "build a critical social mass that expels this business model".
