14,000 “we love you” for the clowns Pirritx, Defex and Marimotots
- “I Love You” has been a popular tribute to the Pirritx, Defex and Marimotots clowns on May 3rd at the BEC exhibition in Barakaldo. Thousands of people thanked him for his contribution to Basque society at the festival organized by the Maite Zu Kultur Elkartea.
The organizers wanted to pay tribute and thank them, for which musicians, singers, dancers, playwrights, plastic arts and bertsolaris took to the stage. All over 200 artists, long list: Itziar Ituño, DreamAranguren, Inés Osinaga, Gozategi, Aitor Gorosabel, Our Circus, Tapia and Leturia, The Giants, La Pulga, Olatz Salvador, Eñaut Elorrieta, Kai Nakai, Jon Maia, Uxue Alberdi, Maialen Lujanbio, DreamArzus, Julio Sozto...
Several songs created by the three clowns formed the axis of the festival and on the stage they revealed themes that work in the songs, such as Basque, cancer, migration, gender and sexual diversity, disabilities, death and the genocide against Palestine.
The organizers explain that they wanted to “celebrate their teachings and the imprint they have left” “together.” As an excuse to thank them for their career, this year they created the popular song “I Love You” twenty years ago. So they gave the event that name, I love you. The clowns have traveled 37 years and in those years they have staged 31 shows. They have released 39 albums and made 450 songs.
