I have never known very well what the British roll is, perhaps because I have never been very fond. However, I have no doubt about what they say. It can be seen in sound and melody, a little dirty, a little psychedelic, a little retro, a little experimental, a little canister, a little playful…
That's Ezez's Katuzaldia album, a cool piece composed of few things. In the first audition they look like songs that give you everything, that have several layers, because you notice the time devoted to production.
It's the difference between creating in a group. Unai Madariaga, founder of the project a few years ago, and despite having made his first solo album, has joined and created Ezez, a synthesis after the denial that the Marxists would say. The quartet consists of guitarist Eneko Ajangiz, bassist Mikel Irigoien and drums Alvaro Olaetxea.
This collective character has brought them a punk attitude, and another remarkable thing: from singing only in English, to singing in Basque, in a process that can be called vulkization. Madariaga explained that the Basque Country brought him the game seeking the charm of the words and brought him the construction of an original song by Marmitako and Chipirón in honor of his grandmother.
The album also includes surfing with the funny song Dutit. Although it is not possible to remember that mythical song by The Uski's, it has its essence beyond the meme. It's a funny song, counterpoint, on a generally frantic disk.
Also with songs I and Mutiko II, they take the album somewhere else, showing that they can play with emotions. The song is a poem by Iñigo Astiz to the Italian poet Sandro Penna, built in two parts. Nose first, rhythm later. Madariaga's voice there, remote all over the record.
In a short time, the Bilbao environment is making many interesting proposals. It can be because, among other things, underground spaces and collectives have put models, because movement always leads to movement. And surely Ezez is going to be one more boost: “Gurea work as a psychologist and / or sweeten the responsibility / All problems next to us with light milking / Not always prepared / stopped please / in jump please!”.
