I feel that simple slogan, the right path or the right recipe to get out of the deep crisis we are in. Democracy is not just a plural system of parties to elect rulers. But this feature is not negligible, because it's very important that in any part of the world people choose who commands. However, democracy is not synonymous with liberalism. It is a possible version of this liberal democracy, the strongest day, of course.

Liberal democracy, in itself, has created the anger and anxiety of many citizens who give rise to a risky opportunity, to the authoritarian use of power, abandoning democracy. In many peoples, the steps of anti-democratic degeneration are being applauded, which is why those of us who want a freer and more egalitarian society must defend more democratic political models, confronting us with authoritarianism.

In the schools of the time of Franco, we were taught that we live in an “organic democracy”. Family, municipality, union and consolidated “bodies” of the national movement. Stalin, Mao or Horneckere also declared “popular democracies” to their regimes. And unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the world who want to go back to the anti-democratic, vertical systems, if they're guaranteed enough material consumption. That is the problem!

Dr. W. According to Churchill, democracy is the best system of government among the bad. I think it's something else. Democracy is a way of understanding social relations and can be the solution to political problems. It is the way of life of individuals and groups, where, together with the defence of generosity, freedom and equality, the rights of diversity and minorities are guaranteed, as well as support for participation and peaceful solutions to conflicts.
According to Chantal Mouffe, the essence of democracy consists in the rejection of the logic of submission to established powers, even if they are legal powers and majorities, consists of a permanent tension towards authority. In principle, anyone, mayor or scientist, leader or priest, has no right to set standards and try to govern others. The legitimacy of the rulers is gained in fair competition between political antagonists. And no one, neither the state, nor the party, nor social movements, has any reason a priori. Democratic reason is acquired in the contrast free of arguments, reaching a majority of positions in society and in public opinion. That is why democracy is false without transparency and without citizen participation.
