Between 1992 and 2003, Víctor Bravo was director of the Hacienda de Gipuzkoa and, later, between 2004 and 2007, senator for the PNV. According to El Diario Vasco, the trial against him will begin next week at the Donostia-San Sebastian Criminal Court No. 1, which will be held on 17, 18 and 19 September.

Bravo explained to the same newspaper that he will not have a lawyer and that he will "defend" himself. In this sense, anyone who is a politician of the PNV will avoid sitting in the dock during the trial.

Bravo was sentenced last June to six years in prison for defrauding EUR 1.8 million to the public treasury between 2003 and 2006, according to the Gipuzkoa prosecutor’s office. For this, the former director of Hacienda used the company Glass Costa Este Salou. This association of Tarragona helped to transfer its headquarters to Guipuzkoan territory due to its fiscal advantages. The State Attorney, for its part, has asked for nine years in prison for the defendant of homicide.

Víctor Bravo is the brother of the head of the Irun Treasury, José María Bravo. He was also tried for fraud against Hacienda and sentenced in 2012 by the Court of Gipuzkoa to 11 years in prison – the Supreme Court confirmed that a year later he was guilty, but withdrew him one year from the sentence. When the corruption case in Irun was uncovered in 2007, Víctor Bravo resigned as senator by the PNV.
