The Basque trade unions have sent letters to the lehendakaris of the CAV and Navarra, Iñigo Urkullu and María Chivite, to explain their reasons, respectively. While Chivite accepts the appointment with the trade unions, Iñigo Urkullu has rejected the call, considering that it is an "absolutely disproportionate" strike.
Urkullu will have reason to reject it. It is no coincidence, however, that there is no contact with the trade unions. It's already the norm. Her Abertzale anti-syndicalism is part of the DNA, while almost every week we see it with the hands of the employers and their companies. On this occasion, however, I could use the call for a strike to discuss with the trade unions their reasons. Because, moreover, it is not only Urkullu who rejects this strike. There are other trade unions and social movements that think so, and part of the pensioners’ movement does not see fit. It is true that in the socio-political context in which the call has been made, this strike can be very much discussed and is being debated.
Urkullu has had no smell and has lost many opportunities to change its relationship with the Abertzale syndicalism. Once again, he shows that he is the leader of the employers. He does not seem to be so convinced of the reasons for the strike, that he could perhaps come up with a union rethinking with them. Or perhaps the unions would convince him and lead him on strike? Urkullu, learn from Chivite. He may think like you, but he meets with the unions.
I found the old news on the LIGHT ephemeris channel: On April 23, 1918, Irish workers went on a general strike in I. Against forced recruitment for World War II. Thanks to the response of the workers and independence supporters, Britain was forced to retreat.
