Fire barricade and mass picket in Tubacex, on the eve of the layoffs
- On the 63rd day of indefinite strike of Tubacex workers, the workers have made a massive piquet and a fire barricade at the entrance of the plant. The following day, 129 redundancies are planned in the Basque Country and Navarre.
The workers in Tubacex have been fighting the layoffs the company intends to carry out for two months. On Thursday, 15 April, the redundancies of 129 workers are scheduled to take place. The day before, on strike day 63, the strikers have made a massive piquet at the gates of the Amurrio plant, calling the entire staff to participate. In the first hour of the morning, a fire barricade has been carried out to make it difficult to access the bus in the direction. Even though the fire brigade went to the site, they turned around without extinguishing the fire, among the applause of the workers:

On the eve of the decisive day, they wanted to send a clear message: “In Tubacex there is no one left.” The works council has asked the workers not to stop the indefinite strike after Thursday in order to continue to support colleagues who stay on the street. As the copy has been received, it has indicated: “We are all on the same boat and with the same goal: to return to work without traumatic layoffs.”
According to the media, the unions have denounced that the management of the company is calling the workers one by one to get them to work. In view of this, the Works Council has recommended that workers record telephone calls from the management, informing them that the call is being recorded.
