The trial was opened in room 2 of the Navarra Hearing. The Public Prosecutor ' s Office calls for sentences of between 3 and 14 years ' imprisonment for eleven accused of allegedly having agreed on the results of two parties, and for former Osasuna charges the misappropriation and falsification of documents are added to this crime.
Specifically, there are two matches of the 2013-14 season in the spotlight: Betis-Valladolid and Osasuna-Betis. Osasuna is believed to have paid EUR 650,000 to three former Betis players, Antonio Amaya, Jordi Figueras and Xavier Torres, who were unable to attend the rally. EUR 400,000 for the Betis to defeat Valladolid and the Betis to lose before Osasuna.
Vizcay, Archanco... 11 imputed in total
Along with Amaya, Figueras and Torres will sit on the bench of the defendants, on the one hand, real estate agents Alberto Nolla and Cristina Valencia; and on the other, six former Osasuna managers: Former manager Ángel Vizcay, the president between 2012 and 2014 Miguel Archanco, three members of his board of directors (Juan Pascual, Txuma Peralta and Sancho Bandrés) and the former president of the Osasuna Foundation Diego Maquirriain. The Prosecutor's Office asks for 14 years and 4 months in jail for Vizcay, 14 years for Archanco, Pascual, Peralta and Bandrés and 3 years for Nolla and Valencia.
With regard to improper ownership, the investigating judge points out that the directors of Osasuna drew at least EUR 2.2 million from the club's accounts with criminal intent, without justifying their fate. OSASUNA, acting as a private indictment, says that more than EUR 2.5 million were taken out.
Archanco has also denounced Vizcay for falsifying his signature in some documents.
Today, Monday, the jury will hear the preliminary explanations of all the parties involved in the Bateragune case. Vizcay, Maquirriain, Bandrés and Peralta are scheduled to be charged on Tuesday; Pascual, Archanco, Valencia and Nolla will be charged on Wednesday; and Amaya, Figueras and Torres on Thursday.
