Rainbow LGBT promotes training and research on family diversity and gender equality. Thanks to the agreement, the association will contribute to better explain the equality of citizens, coexistence, sexual freedom and human rights in the “Dictionary of the Basque Language” and other language resources. Axier Garate, spokesperson for the Rainbow Association, said: “This Thursday we celebrate the day against homophobia and we would like to take advantage of this agreement to show that our society has made a clear commitment to affective diversity.”
The counseling will also have a different direction. The Basque Language Office will offer language advice to the association in the calls it promotes in its end-of-degree works and master’s studies, as well as language advice for the scientific journal “Plural” published by Ortzadar. On the other hand, the Basque Government will acquire the masses of text generated by the Rainbows to feed their dictionaries.
Andrés Urrutia made the following statements regarding the agreement: “The Academy is mandated to train and adapt the Basque language to new uses, to which this important agreement comes in part. The Basque Government cannot ignore its social responsibility and wants to contribute to make the LGBT community even more visible.”
