- For the third time in Berango a new date is set for the emptying of restored lands. At 08:00 hours Otxantegi Herri Lurra members convened a meeting.
There is already a new date for the eviction of Otxantegi in Berango (Bizkaia): next Tuesday, 7 May. So far they have managed to delay emptying twice: November 2023 and April 18. On two occasions countless people have come to defend the devastated lands, and on both he said that the Ertzaintza did not have "sufficient resources" to carry out the eviction.
After delaying the last eviction last month, Otxantegi members are informed of a new eviction date. So they call again to mobilize in defense of the Commons. A "popular breakfast" has been organized for 08:30 in the morning and called at that time. "We're going to stop eviction again," they claim.
The General Urban Management Plan of Berango (PGOU) aims to build more than 2,300 homes. In this sense, it is intended to empty the communal lands of Otxantegi.
