Already in the 13th century there was a hermitage called San Cristobal on Mount Ezkaba, which lasted until the 19th century. Consequently, the mountain is also known as San Cristobal. Alfonso XII disappeared with the construction of the fort. It is also from the 13th century the castle of Ezkaba, where the heads of the Pamplona Naval War took refuge in 1276, who fought against the French army. Also between 1750 and 1760, numerous small fortifications were built from Berrobeitia to Arre. And in the lands of Artica, in the 19th century there was also a military camp.
For the construction of the current fort, the Spanish Army began in 1877 with land expropriations and then the current runway was built that leads from Artica to the top and allows you to drive up. In 1913 the expropriation of the lands of the current shooting zone was carried out and in 1965 the land for the Aitzoain barracks. From Pamplona, Joseba Gil, established in the Association in the last 35 years, was a councillor in Berrioplano in the 1990s and in the last decades, and said that at one point it seemed that the military had intended to transfer the property of the fort to another institution: “There were also talks with the City Council of Berrioplano, but in the end it did not materialize in anything.” On the website of the Spanish Army, the army "is studying a management model shared with other public institutions for the reuse of the fort".
Until prehistory, Ezkaba also had many villages of the Bronze and Iron Ages, one of the most important in the current Arctic lands. Man has always exploded Ezkaba. Until recently, almost all the south had many vineyards. In almost all the villages there have been quarries, the most exploited have been those of Artika, Aitzoain and Berriozar. Between 1512 and 1515, for example, all quarries acted to put a stop to the construction of the Fort of Pamplona. In Ansoáin and Artica there have also been very fine silica. Towards the north is the municipality of Ezkabarte, in the valley that occupies the whole north of the mountain, composed of 1816 inhabitants and eleven neighborhoods, and possibly the most unknown site of the Comarca of Pamplona.
