The PNV passes the bill to ELA
- We have recently learned that the Finance of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, in the hands of the PNV, has asked the unions for the identity of workers who have received some payment for strikes, the amounts paid and, where appropriate, the retention data for the years 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
In other words, the Bizkaia Treasury has decided to investigate the case of the resistance of the Basque trade unions to the situation. The box that has used the most has been ALS. According to official data, between 2008 and 2011 it contributed 13.7 million euros to the resistance fund – 15.1% of its expenditure – and between 2012 and 2016 it was 19.1 million – 16.24% of its expenditure.
It is precisely, and curiously, that ELA was the resistance box that had to be used the most last year when it led the long 370-day strike in the nursing homes of Bizkaia. And on that strike, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia got involved very hard, causing a serious confrontation between the union and the political representatives, which is a sign of the bitter relationship maintained by ELA and PNV, starting with the lehendakari Urkullu and the Jeltzale presidency. ELA has assured that it has been following the criteria of the Basque haciendas for 38 years and has explained that “cash compensation has never been taken into account as a work income”.
It is clear that this tax initiative of the Biscay Treasury is the bill that the PNV wants to pass on to the Abertzale syndicate. He doesn’t want to “counteract,” nor does anyone turn off around him. He wants submissive unions. It would be better for the Treasury to delve into the usual tax fraud, because it knows where the fraud is committed and it is not so alien to it. I should chase him when he's where he is.
