Fraga used to say that she had nothing against the faggots, as long as they did the faggots in the bedroom. It is said that Mr Azkuna and, more surprisingly, Mrs Madrazo share the same opinion. If not, how can we understand that on June 28, the municipal mast in Plaza Arriaga, the gay flag was placed and messages were issued against homophobia; and that a few weeks earlier, calmly, they had proposed and defended the Public
Space Ordinance recently approved by the City Council of Bilbao?
In fact, the regulations in question* include articles that are purely surreal, such as the prohibition of playing comets in a city like Bilbao, where a comet is not seen even once a year; the prohibition of drinking on the street, except when the drink is bought in bars... There were even more surreal sections that have been modified thanks to popular pressure, such as: forcing pedestrians to walk on the sidewalks on the right, banning them from propaganda of political ideas!
Article 16, however, is particularly scandalous for a member of a sexual freedom organisation. Street prostitution is prohibited. That would have been reason enough to be in complete opposition to the regulation, because of the points I have raised on other occasions and which I will not repeat. But no, they have dared to go even further, and they have gone so far as to
prohibit in the public space any intimate – intimate – and personal affective expression, and anything else that might have anything to do with sex, because it is said that it is not polite to do such a thing in front of others. So from now on, I'm going to finish the fucking inside the car and/or the whirling and/or kissing under the protection of the darkness of the park. The fines aren’t as bad either: a slight mistake (like the ones we just mentioned) 750 €; a serious mistake (doing it in front of a child) 1,500 €. Unbelievable, isn't it? But real, unfortunately.
Some might think it's a local affair. Well, no, no. Barcelona was the first of these ordinances in the state. Then it has been copied in other cities, becoming more repressive in each copy. There is something similar in Europe. If we go ahead with Bilbao, we will soon have similar ones in San Sebastian, Pamplona or Getxo. It is serious, since it is a regulation based on the morality and sexophobia of the catechism that was supposed to have been overcome. In this march they will soon leave Torquemada small. Fuckin' born to see!
