More places to stay in Urkullu: "EH was aware of the situation. I didn't see any candidates withdraw."

As usual, the Basque Government officials meet in San Sebastián for the first government meeting after the summer. After that, President Irigo Urkullu spoke about the political situation. Urkullu has dealt with two main issues: On the disqualification of Arnaldo Otegi, and on the situation left by the second Spanish elections.
He accuses EH Bil of “political opportunism” in the case of Otegi, according to the News. The Chairman said that the existence of a technical legal process precluded any discussion. He recalled that Otegi had expressed his intention to accept the outcome of this process, in the face of which the Government “has no role.”
According to Urkullu, Otegi said that if he was prevented from presenting himself to anyone else, he would not present himself, and he has also talked about it: “EH was aware of the situation. I didn’t see any candidates come out.” The President stressed that he has always been “against the causes and consequences of the Compatibility case.”
On Saturday, the candidate from EH Bil extended the offer to Poder and the PNV, in an effort to change the state of relations between Navarre and the Basque Country and to ensure that Madrid accepts the right to decide. Urkullu's intentions, however, are different: “We don’t want a front.” Urkullu said that the PNV is in favour of the right to decide and that the issue has been brought to the Basque Parliament's self-government working group: “We will continue to build the Basque Country.”
“The spirit of transition is dying”
Urkullu rejects the agreement signed between Ciudadanos and the PP in support of Mariano Rajoy during the investiture session for the Spanish presidency. According to him, the agreement involves “uniformizing laws” and he is concerned about what both parties have “not written, but said.”
In addition, according to the president, Ciudadanos and the PP “want to strengthen the state over the autonomies” and denounce that “the spirit of transition is dying”. “Patriots have played a state role from the time of the transition to today. And now they despise us.”
