The CAPV General Civil Service Bureau on Tuesday and the representatives of the Basque Government and the trade unions did not agree with the calls for strike on 25 October and 19 December. The trade unions ELA, LAB, CCOO, Steilas, Satse and ESK have called for a strike and have explained that the government "has complied with Madrid and has renounced its right to decide".
Over 150,000 people are on strike. Among others, they call for the creation and consolidation of public employment, the completion of the "continuous process of deterioration of working conditions", the reduction of temporality to 8%, the non-implementation of new privatization processes, the alleviation of workloads, the strengthening of public services...
"These requests are well known to the Basque Government," the workers' representatives explained after the general bureau meeting: "However, it has expressed its intention to continue to comply with the limits set by Madrid." They denounce that government representatives have not offered content to improve the working conditions of workers.
They reaffirm their intention to continue the two arrests and call on all public sector personnel to participate in these strikes.
