The investiture session of Pedro Sánchez dates: 22 and 23 July
- In order to renew the office of President of Spain, an absolute majority vote is required. If this were not achieved, a second vote would be held on 25 July, with the necessary simple majority.
The negotiations to achieve the absolute majority of Sánchez have a deadline, as the president of Congress, Meritxell Batet, has set the dates for the investiture: 22 and 23 July. The debate will begin on 22 and the vote will be closed on 23. Sánchez's investiture as president would be done by an absolute majority if it is not achieved, so it will be put to a second vote on 25 July. At this point, a simple majority would suffice for him; in other words, if the vote in favour exceeds the votes against, he could renew the post of president.
If the simple majority were not obtained in the second vote, it would have a period of two months to get the support. If no support was forthcoming, the Courts would dissolve and the elections would be reconvened, which would be held on 10 November.
In Sanchez, for his part, he has not ensured any support from the parties. However, he has announced that he will come to the sitting regardless of the situation in which he is.
