"There are many pensioners who meet every Monday in the squares ahead of the city hall of our peoples, but much more, who share the goals of the movement and feel the passion to support it," explains the Basque Country Pensioners' Movement. They say that many of them are related to the world of Euskera, culture and the Bertso and that the "Bertsopensionetan" initiative emerges from their hand: Pensioner I. Bertsos Jarriak competition.

With this cultural initiative they want to "deepen and socialise the issue of pensions": "The issue of pensions is a matter for society as a whole. The interested person must write between three and six verses freely, and preferably with the melody he has used in the mind when creating. The organization has emphasized the creation of a collection of verses, "that is, works formed by verses with a clear relationship".

Special award ceremony

The movement will make the award of the competition through a public and open act: "We invite all the participants and, together with the verses of the winners, we will be able to enjoy a front row bertsolaris evening. Bertsos must be sent by regular or electronic mail before 15 January. To prevent those who will judge the bertsos from knowing the name of the author, they have given the following instructions:

"For regular mail delivery, the original verses set, signed with a title and alias, will be entered in a large envelope, together with a minor envelope containing the author's details (name and surname, locality and e-mail and contact telephone).
