The Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed the ruling, according to EiTB, citing “legal sources”, and the prosecutor of the National Audience, José Perals, who was born in Tarragona and has been working in the Public Prosecutor’s Office since 1994, continues to demand that the defendants be charged with 12 to 62 years of imprisonment, injuries and terrorist threats.

The section jury, however, did not observe any signs of terrorism during the confrontation that took place in a bar in Altsasu on October 15, 2016, nor that the defendants "have a connection and participation with ETA". However, the judges of the Spanish Special Court have sentenced the young people of Altsasu to 79 years in prison for “damages, public disorder and threats”, the maximum that can be imposed for these crimes.
Parents, relatives and the general public have denounced the sentence with anger and harshness, saying that it is completely out of place and that it is "revenge". The prosecutor’s appeal comes just two days before the big demonstration against the ruling in Pamplona.
