The sixth edition of the Women’s World March will take place this year. The five-year event will begin in Bardea on May 10 and will pass through some of the villages of the Basque Country, ending in San Sebastián at 7.30 p.m. at the Easo Plaza rally. Among them, they will pass through the bridge between Aramaio, San Miguel and Irún and Hendaye. "The sovereignty and dignified life of the peoples. War and Capitalism! It will go under the slogan.
As its motto indicates, this year’s edition will have three axes. On the one hand, they will make a cry for the defense of the land. “We want to put livable worlds and lives at the center of what we find in the midst of a climate emergency,” the organizers said. They will denounce the massive exploitation of the land and its resources and declare that they will question the institutions that favor this model. They recall, on the other hand, that the exploitation is carried out by the global north, with respect to the global south: "Today it is a mechanism to continue colonizing the countries of the South. We can’t look the other way.”
The second focus of this year’s edition is migration policies: “We live in a system that hits marginal subjects, where both migrated and racialized bodies are at the point of these oppressions, among other things.” Thus, they have called for the abolition of the law on aliens as an urgent measure, as well as denouncing violence and institutional racism.
The third axis is the macho violence. They explain that they understand that macho violence is structural and that in this way they use it in conjunction with other systems of oppression to control "the life, body and sexuality of women and dissident bodies."
In addition to the action of 10 May, the organizers have extended an invitation to participate in the actions that will be organized during the weeks in the villages of the Basque Country, as well as in the VI International at European level. Also participating in the action, in Marseille, on the 13th and 15th of June.
